Understanding Forecast Data from OpenWeather

OpenWeather® is a globally recognised weather data provider delivering forecast, historical, and current weather information via API services. Their forecasting models combine meteorological data sources, satellite observations, and global weather models to generate reliable short- and medium-range forecasts.

OpenWeather supplies weather data to thousands of commercial applications worldwide, including logistics platforms, energy systems, agriculture, marine services, and smart infrastructure solutions.

Within the Skylink-Pro portal, OpenWeather provides the forecast data that appears alongside your live on-site sensor readings.

The Skylink-Pro weather portal is designed to help you make informed operational decisions using:

– Your real-time on-site weather data (captured from your installed Skyview Systems hardware)

– Independent forecast data (provided by OpenWeather)

Displaying both together allows you to:

– Compare predicted conditions with actual site measurements

– Plan ahead using forward-looking weather models

– Assess forecast accuracy against your local microclimate

Make proactive operational decisions (e.g. staffing, safety, irrigation, logistics)

This side-by-side view provides significantly more insight than either data source alone:

OpenWeather forecast data appears in the following areas of the system:

Live Data Page – Weather Map

The map window displays upcoming weather conditions including temperature, wind and other forecasted variables. Your home location or sites recording and reporting weather readings within your company group display Live data. All other data is labelled Forecast.

Live Data – 3-Hour Forecast

The 3-Hour Forecast box uses OpenWeather data so display a forecast specific to your site location. By clicking on the box you can view a more detailed forecast of extensive weather parameters.
